We provide support, resources, and opportunities for those facing adversity, helping them transform their lives and reach their full potential.

Our mission is simple: to move mountains for those who need it most. We are dedicated to helping individuals and communities overcome life’s biggest challenges by providing access to essential resources, education, and leadership development. Through a holistic approach, we offer a hand-up—not just a hand-out—empowering people to create lasting, positive change in their lives and communities.

 

Our Story

The story of Moving Mountains began during a time of unprecedented need—the aftermath of Hurricane Helen and the devastating flood that followed. In the wake of this natural disaster, two women—Kerrie Aistrop and Melissa Rogers—found themselves coming together to respond to the overwhelming needs of their community.

As neighbors and friends, they witnessed firsthand the destruction and loss, and they realized that they had the skills, passion, and drive to make a difference. Kerrie, with her background in community organizing, jumped into action coordinating relief efforts.. Melissa, a marketing professional with experience working with small to medium-sized businesses, used her skills to raise awareness, mobilize support, and connect the community with vital resources.

Together, they forged a powerful partnership that not only helped their community recover but inspired them to create Moving Mountains—a nonprofit that would continue to provide support and empowerment long after the floodwaters receded. The shared experience of coming together in the face of disaster fueled their commitment to helping others overcome life's greatest obstacles, no matter how big the mountain.

 

Our Programs

At Moving Mountains, we believe that helping people get back on their feet starts with addressing immediate needs and providing long-term solutions. Our programs focus on assisting neighbors and communities with the practical resources necessary to rebuild and recover.

• Supply Distribution: We gather and distribute essential supplies—such as food, clothing, toiletries, and hygiene products—to help families in need. These supplies are vital for neighbors who are experiencing hardship and need immediate relief.

• Rebuilding & Home Renovation Assistance: We partner with other nonprofits, donors, and businesses to gather and distribute building supplies, tools, and resources necessary for home remodeling and rebuilding efforts. By leveraging these partnerships, we help provide the materials needed for families to restore their homes and rebuild their lives.

• Community Outreach & Support: We connect families with resources, offer advice on navigating relief programs, and provide on-the-ground support to ensure individuals and families receive the help they need to thrive after a disaster or crisis.

• Kerrie Aistrop: A community organizer and advocate, Kerrie brings a wealth of experience in addressing societal challenges and providing direct support to individuals and families in need. Her passion for creating lasting change drives her commitment to helping those who need it most

• Melissa Rogers: As a marketing professional with experience working with small to medium-sized businesses, Melissa brings a wealth of expertise in building relationships, raising awareness, and driving engagement. Her passion for helping others, coupled with her strategic marketing skills, enables her to mobilize support and amplify the mission of Moving Mountains.
